Single entry visas

With that being said, you can get a single-entry visa when coming for a short business trip, visiting your loved ones or touring the country. You can stay in Ghana for 90 days with this visa, so keep this in mind.

Multiple entry visas

Very ideal for business travellers or other people who have to come to Ghana many times in a year. Although your length of stay will depend on what you need to do here, these visas often allow you to stay for 60 to 90 days.

Transit visas

You’ll need this if you’re going to another country but need to make a stop in Ghana. With a transit visas, you’ll only have to be in Ghana for 48 hours, and you can’t renew it.

Work/student visas

These visas are for those who are employed by a Ghanaian company, or got admissions into a Ghanaian university. The visa can be renewed for as long as they stay in the country.

Diplomatic visas

These are for the diplomats from different countries, and will keep them in Ghana for as long as their mission allows.

How to extend your stay in Ghana

Apart from a transit visa, you can always apply for visa extensions, especially after immigration advice. But in the meantime, visit the GIS headquarters or regional offices with your passport, passport photos, completed visa extension application form, a letter that highlights why you’re staying, and proof of financial support and accomodation. You can then pay the extension fees, wait for the processing, after which you’ll get a visa extension stamp on your passport.
